Thank you?

I’m sitting here trying to write thank you notes to all the wonderful staff at the PLC for taking care of my baby…how do you put into words that what they said and did meant the world?

Thank you isn’t enough…it isn’t nearly enough.

I recently read that book that everyone is talking about “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch…sooo good..there is a reason why people are talking!

And in it at one point he’s talking about his premature son and the staff that took care of him. I cried. He put into words exactly what we felt… “…they did a wonderful job of simultaneously communicating two dissonant things. In so many words, they told parents that 1)Your child is special and we understand that his medical needs are unique, and 2) Don’t worry, we’ve had a million babies like yours come through here.”

That was it…that’s exactly how we felt.

We wanted to know that they knew that they were taking care of our whole world and yet, wanted to know that they’ve seen this a million times and it was just a routine day for them.

How do you say thanks for that?

What I didn`t get for Christmas…

I crave these boots….

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want these boots…

Is it breaking my resolution of budget/saving money if I buy them? I love these boots, they are by Twisted X and I already own a pair and I love them….have I mentioned that I love them?

These are the ones I already have…

and they were super comfortable right off the bat. There wasn’t that initial breaking in period, not to mention that they look HOT! Twisted X has a great website that is super easy to navigate and they have a ton of different styles to suit just about everyone. I picked my boots up at Giddy-Up Western Wear out in Airdrie and they can order in pretty much any pair in any size that you want. The only thing that would make me nervous is the sizing…I am a “try before you buy” type of girl.

What I LOVE about these boots is the top…how cute is that? You could wear these with jeans or a skirt. Love it! Not to mention the flower design…and the colors…ok…I’m obsessed…Help!

2010 Resolutions

After looking over my “list”, I’ve picked my top three New Year’s plans/resolutions. They are…(drumroll)…Climb a mountain…Run in a marathon…and don’t laugh…Learn to drive a standard. I say don’t laugh at the last one because, yes, despite living on a farm for 30 years, I STILL don’t know how to drive one. embarrassing. But this is the year!

I’m excited about all my plans…Marathon/Mountain – I’m getting a treadmill this week! I’ve attempted to go to the gym over the last month, but of course…2  babies = no time…so I’m bringing the gym to me! And I’m excited! I love working out and have missed it over the last (almost) year. And now I’ll get to watch Steven and Chris while running…who could ask for more?!?

As for the standard driving lesson…hmmmm…this might require a lot of fast talking on my part. My husband might not be so inclined to offer his truck as my practice vehicle…and I’m not so excited about using the grain truck…might have to work on this one!

Now, of course, I’ve made several other resolutions…save money, use a budget, invite people over for dinner more often and not eat at McDonald’s for a whole year. But the three from the list are for me and me only, while the rest are for my family. So, now to put my plans into action…maybe an apple pie for dessert tonight will butter up my husband, what do you think?
