Look of the week ~ Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker….have I mentioned how EXCITED I am about Sex in the City 2 coming out in 17 days?!?! Well…..I am! So this week’s look is from the lovely “Carrie”!

We all have the basics…our favorite jeans, tank, sunglasses and flip flops….so I’m focusing on the accessories in this look and putting my signature Farmer’s Trophy Wife spin on it…

Instead of the natural wooden beads, I would go with these…. I LOVE!!

They are made by Blacksburg Belle on etsy.com and I think the color combo is gorgeous!! What is not to love about this?!? And with a grey tank!??

Next, the leopard scarf…again, love…and I like how she tied it on the bag..with our weather now (sunny then snow!) this would be handy when that wind starts to blow…and it will!

Britt Import Scrunched Wool Shawl - LeopardMelie Bianco Hobo with Chain and Tassels

I would still go with the yellow cardigan…would look great with the teal and orange necklace.

And instead of the tiny gold braclet that I think she is wearing…I’d go big, silver and fabulous!

Gardening…

My front yard is gigantic….really…it take about 3 hours to mow…on a riding mower. And there are a lot of gorgeous flower beds that my husband’s Auntie put in and she has a very green thumb. So, now that we are living in the family farm-house it is my responsibility. Ack!

I have little to no skill in this area of life. And I am definitely a plant and forget about it kind of gardener…I mean I’ll weed and water, but to do more than that….tough luck flowers, you are on your own. But lack of talent or not, I have HUGE dreams and plans for our yard…all stashed away in my “some day” files!! And I’ve come to the conclusion that tackling just one large project per summer is a good way to go. It’s easier on the wallet that way, and with time I can plan and re-plan things that I want to do as we grow into our house and yard. Last year’s project was cedar chips for all flower beds (helps keep the weeds down and moisture in) and a rock-landscaped sand box for the kids.

This year I think I should put more flowers in. I noticed last year that all the flowerbeds were primarily purple.  So what colors go well with purple? And the other plan is that I am only spending money on perrieanals…I can’t stand to spend money on flowers to only have them come up once a year. So what do you all recommend?! Remember, I’m in Alberta…it tends to be dry and hot around here…help!!!

Celebrating the moisture…

Since it has been raining and (mostly) snowing on and off for the last 2 weeks (YAY!!!), I thought I’d honor this occasion…I mean this moisture is LONG overdue and the farmers are doing dances as they religiously check their rain-gauges 4 to 5 times a day (and then phoning around to see what everyone else got).

Soooo…hmmm…what to do….what to do…..

I know, how about I share some of my favorite things in  BLUE?!

Get it? Moisture…blue…water…ok, it’s kind of a stretch…..

Blue Beach Glass Bath AccessoriesThis is new from Pottery Barn (I want to move into the catalog) and I LOVE it! Sea glass bathroom accessories…so pretty and would go soooo nicely with my planned bathroom reno concept!

Baja Outdoor Glassware, Set of 6

I also really like blue rimmed glassware…it reminds me of Mexico and margaritias….mmmmmmm……

This is a dining room done by (my favorite) Sarah Richardson. The turquoise is AMAZING!! I would love to have the courage to try this…but I think it’s a little too girly or fancy for on the farm. But I’ll attempt to talk my darling husband into this….wish me luck!

Turquoise Cross Ring

And this is self-explanitory…who doesn’t like turquoise jewellery?!?!

This gorgeous cross from The Junk Gypsy’s is one that I have hanging on my wall. I have started a cross collection and this one fit in beautifully!

I hope you enjoyed this post…brought to you by the color blue…and the letter M…..Have a great day!!

Look of the week ~ Reese Witherspoon

This week’s look is Reese Witherspoon…I adore her movies and am super-pysched that she is slated to possibly star in a movie called Black Heels to Tractor Wheels. This is the title of an upcoming book written by my FAVORITE blogger Ree Drummond, it’s a true story about how she (a city girl) met and married her rancher husband…for those not familiar check out her blog The Pioneer Woman and read the first half of the story here….sooo good! Anyways, her book is apparently set to be released around Valentine’s Day 2011 and the movie rights have already been picked up and Reese is considering playing Ree….omigawd!! Could you imagine?! I would want either Reese or Kate Hudson to play me…I better hurry up and get my book done!! ;) Until then, I’ll just have to love and copycat her look, with of course my Farmer’s Trophy Wife twist!
