This is one area where we are storing the grain. The yellow auger is hooked up to the tractor and will be moved to load all the grain into the bins….

This question is one that not only have I asked myself, but have been asked by others; and I haven’t discovered my favorite answer yet. Or rather an answer that actually is short enough not to bore people.
I started because I had just had baby # 2 and wanted to think about something other than diapers and sleepless nights. The content is all stuff that appeals to me, and I figure if I like it…someone else will too?! I had searched for western sites or blogs in the past and never found anything that was my style, western with a lot of flash. And so thought, why not make up my own.
Here I am, 10 months later and loving it. It was a hard balance at first, finding time to write/create posts and still getting kids fed, house cleaned and laundry did. My poor, darling husband ran out of clean socks a few times before I found my rhythm; and he didn’t complain once.
Maybe this is another reason why I blog. I can vent my creative/sparkly personality and have tremendous support from my family. Maybe my husband figures if I write about fashion and clothes, I’ll spend less time shopping for them?!
Either way, I am in love with this blogging thing and appreciate all the support and comments from all you fabulous people who actually read this thing! And what is that you love? I am in a blogging rut lately and sometimes worry that I put out too much of one thing and not enough of others….or am too all over the place…or that I should try harder to show more of our farming life…

I am posting some fabulous short styles in honor of my friend Wendy. This past week she bit the bullet and cut off her hair. Not a lot of women are brave enough to do this….most stick to the same hair length going up or down a few inches over the years. Not my Wendy. She cut off about 8 inches worth and looks GORGEOUS!!! (I would love to post some pics, but I think she would murder me…) And because Wendy is so brave, I’ve booked my appointment and later this week will be giving my hairdresser free rein to do what ever she wants. Wish me luck! And Wendy, I’m proud of you!

Made this for a lot of hungry men the other night and it was a hit! So, of course, I’ll share! This one’s for all you farm wives out there madly cooking meals….
1 tsp cooking oil 1 lb ground beef 1/2 cup chopped onion
Brown meat in oil, add chopped onion, cook till onion is soft.
1 tbsp Chili powder 1 tsp cumin (I didn't use) 1 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp basil 1/2 tsp crushed chilies 1/2 tsp salt
And these 6 ingredients to beef. Heat and stir for 1 minute until fragrant.
14 oz. diced tomatoes with juice 14 oz. Can of Kidney beans, rinsed and drained Can of tomato sauce
Add last 3 ingredients. Stir well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Serves 4.
~ I pretty much added and subtracted to my taste. I used 4 lbs of beef and then adjusted the recipe till it tasted fabulous! And I used this Popover recipe to go with it….Hope you enjoy!! ~
