Got me thinking…

Thanks all for the great discussion last post!! I love it. And you know, it got me thinking.

A dangerous pastime, I know….

The tall boot over jeans is a look that is classic. Falls into the same category as a white button down shirt or tweed blazer. In style now and always will be. I just don’t want everyone else to do it too. Can’t I be the only one?! LOL. So I take back what I said, I still love it, I’m just not in love with the millions of others doing the same thing. Does that make sense?!

And, while its easy for me to have and voice my opinion, its another thing to put my money where my mouth is. Meaning…have you noticed a lack of photos of me actually dressed up in anything?!

Thought you might have! The number one reason is…just having baby #3, I am not at my ideal body shape or size. Yes, it’s temporary, but it is what it is and I should be dressing my best and proud of it while I am getting back in shape and getting back to feeling like me again. So, one of my blog goals/resolutions is to actually post pictures of me rocking my daily style. Stay at home days…not such a good look (husband’s t-shirts and huge pj pants) so I won’t horrify you with those pictures…but on the days when I actually shower and put on some makeup…I will be sharing.

AND…

I have a question…

I got some $$ from my Grandma this Christmas (LOVE YOU!!) and I want to spend it on something that will stand the test of time…a Chanel linking C brooch, Lucchese boots or some jewelry that I will work forever. What do you suggest?! Because I am at a loss…not that I can’t think of something…more along the lines of I just can’t decide…HELP!

In or out?!

The other day I was walking around one of my favorite malls in Calgary, Chinook Mall, and I was shocked.

Not so much by prices of things, or the fabulous sales. But rather by how turned off I was on what almost EVERYONE was wearing.

Now Chinook Mall is one of the classier (?!) malls…they have Tiffany & Co., Pottery Barn, Victoria Secret and Anthropologie, to name a few. And for Calgary, this is a big deal. Actually, for Canada, this is a big deal. I think there are only like 3 Pottery Barns in our country….

Anyways…

What I am getting at is that this mall caters to a “higher class” of stay at home moms and teens (the people who are usually at the mall at 10am)…so what they were wearing wasn’t shabby or horrible, actually, everyone looked REALLY put together. What bothered me was the VAST number of women wearing boots over jeans.

You know…

This look…

Now don’t get me wrong…I work this look, I LOVE this look…or should I say LOVED.

Because the more women I saw, the more I decided that I was SO OVER IT. Once something becomes soooo mainstream, I’m done…

- blingy belts, boots, coats, buckles…etc. OVER IT

- Miss Me jeans or any with the flashy embelished pockets…OVER IT

- round toed cowboy boots…

- burnout tees…

OVER IT.

Oh, and another look I saw A LOT of in the stores?! Aztec prints…

I adored this look this past September when all the great fall stuff was coming out…Now?! It has been dooonnneee by everyone and I am ready for the next thing. Of course I have worn all this stuff, but I like to find things and do it before everyone and their dog is too…I’m funny that way.

Soooo…that got me thinking. What do I think is next?!

Glad you asked!

Now, I am only one person…and I have a tendancy to voice my opinions…loudly.
But I do listen too…so, what do you think?!

one item…two ways…

I have to say a HUGE sorry for the serious lack of posts lately. My baby girl has decided that 8 to 12pm is her favorite time to be awake…and this means mommy has to pay attention to her, or ELSE! And that is usually my “ME” time when I get my blogging done! Darn it!

But…she’s asleep right now…sooo…

This post is a new idea for me…totally stolen from another blogger of course, because what good idea isn’t?! ;)

I love the blog, ALL THINGS LOVELY, and she does a post series called “Dress Up, Dress Down” …my title, not so original…help me out here if you want!!

one item, two ways

What do you think?! I know that a lot of  the items that I use can be on the $$$ side. And I totally realize that this is impractical, but when I am making “looks” I just pick things that appeal to me in their shape, color and style. I don’t pick based on designer or price tag, and by no stretch of the imagination do I think that you need to spend big bucks to recreate these looks yourselves. All I am hoping you take away or copy is the idea. Many things can be found for a heck of a lot cheaper in your favorite stores…GAP, Zara, Joe Fresh or wherever you love to shop, keep the “looks” in mind when you are shopping and I can guarantee you will be able to recreate on your budget no problem!!
I also have a question for you all.
I have been asked to participate in a ag-conference discussing fashion and interior design with woman from all sorts of ag. backgrounds. The theme/lecture is totally up us (I love a team effort!) and I was wondering, if you were to attend something like this, what would you like me to talk about?! Thanks in advance for all the help!!!
Hope your week is going fabulous and love ya!!
