~ a new opportunity has come knocking at my door (ok, email inbox) and i get to tell ya about it!
HeadWest Outfitters and I are going to be featuring a new item here on my little ol’ blog each month!!
this month’s item is…
~ they ship all across the USA and Canada (!!) and when this cute little dress arrived, my daughter was quick to attempt to lay claim…i am actually dreading the day when we wear the same size, i have a strong feeling things are going to go missing from my closet on a regular basis!!!
~ the dress is sooo soft and the beading is really nice, and VERY well sewn, i always worry about stuff like that…i am SOO not a dry-clean only kinda gal!
~ the color is described as black, but appears to be more dark, dark brown than black. but i think if you wanted to wear it with black, it would still look great! the material is a soft jersey type fabric that would be nice and cool in the summer and be easy to layer come cooler weather.
~ unfortunately, the size large didn’t quite fit my, uh, chest area (still rocking my mommy curves) but my sister was more than willing to step up and model for me!!! i just threw it together with a pair of brown frye boots (vanessa) and aviators. we also added a hudson bay blanket and some hunter wellies for some fun!!
I gots an email.
With a GOOD question…
Dear Fashion Guru,
Here is my current situation. I’ve been creeping the pages of Pinterest looking for some insight into what to purchase for Fall/Winter that will carry me thru till the spring. I’m seeing lots of layering, and cardigans, huge chunky sweaters, boots, leggings. All things I’m a BIG fan of because I’m ALWAYS cold! So, if you had to suggest some KEY pieces for Fall/Winter what should I be on the look out for? Secondly, if you have some packing/travel tips. What should a girl take on a week-long trip to maximize space to allow bringing home more items!!! Thanks so much, can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
LOL…I like my new title. Y’all can refer to me that way from now on, K?!
Becky does bring up a good question though. What pieces are good from fall thru till spring. Because I know my bank account doesn’t support a full seasonal wardrobe change…and becuase I always feel a little weird wearing chunky southwestern-y sweaters in the spring. They look FAB in November. But come March…I don’t know. Am I alone in this?!
So, hmmmmm. Here are some ideas.
And if you all have any other suggestions…chime in!!!
First up, Military Coat. This trend has been around for a while, and looks like it will be staying. I like it. A military coat is a good neutral that matches pretty much anything, and can be layered to keep warm. I still wear mine in the spring without feeling too bulky or outta place…
And always a classic, and available in SOOO many colors and price points is the plaid shirt…look for ones that have colors that can translate to spring. Or if you find one that fits your body fabulously, buy it in a fall/winter color and in a spring color…
And this one combines a military coat AND a plaid shirt. GENIUS!
And of course. Native Inspired. Love it. Always have, always will. Not easily translated to spring, but will truly never go out of style, so fall after fall you will be able to break this stuff out!
Ok. That is enough for today.
I will keep
blabbing blogging about this topic later this week!
Selma Lizzy, aka, florida-chikadee1028 sent me a message on polyvore!
“hey there! would you mind answering my question about what to wear to go bowling? i love you sets, and your blog, so it would mean a lot if you did “
So sweet, and a challange, as I can’t remember the last time I went bowling!!! (time to remedy that I think!)
So here you go darling!
My next request is from my dear friend, Wendy!
She sent me pictures of a few items she has and I created a few looks…AND we are going shopping together today!!! FUN!
AND don’t worry, I know today is the day to pick a WINNER for the boots!!! I will do that tonight, when I get home from my whirlwind shopping trip!!!!!
Jennifer has kind of a big event coming up…click here to check out all the details…
And she needs some ideas for ensembles…
Hope this is what you are looking for Jennifer!!! (if not, email me and I’ll try again!)
Today’s requests are from some lovely girlies looking to style some items they already have!! First up is Julaine, she bought some boots and is now looking for some dresses to go with!!
My advice is to go neutral with a dress, those boots are pretty darn fabulous and you don’t want to try to compete. If you can find the perfect shade of pink/cranberry to match BUY IT, otherwise, stick to whites, greys, creams or gold!!! My favorite shops online are modcloth and dorthyperkins. Try Victoria Secret too…anyone else have a favorite online stores for summer dresses?!
The next request is from Becky, she, in a fit of grieving/jealousy over not being able to attend the Calgary Stampede, went shopping this week. She found some fab dresses and a pair of gorgeous grey heels she now wants to style! While I don’t have the exact dresses or shoes to work with (other than emailed pics) I made a few looks that have the same color and style of dress and shoes, so you can get the jist, ok Becky?!
