Monthly Archives: January 2010

So, being that the end of January is, well, today…I thought I’d update you on the state of  my resolutions.

1) Marathon…

I got my treadmill about the 2nd week of January and have loved it ever since. It’s still up for debate if it returns the love.

I’ve followed a plan from a website that my friend Jenn sent me….I really like it, it’s something to help guide me and it doesn’t ask too much of me too quickly. It starts you out running one minute, walking one minute and alternating days with just walking, each for 30 min. Week 2 starts out the same, but then they expect you to be able to run 4 minutes/walk 1 minute by the end of the week…not really there yet.

I’m up to running 3 minutes….and plan to keep that up for this upcoming week. I’m happy with week by week adding a minute. There is no hurry and I’d rather work at my pace than get discouraged and quit…am enjoying the nap time workouts and look forward to them(ok, that’s a white lie…I don’t ALWAYS look forward to it…).

2) Mountain Climb…

Ok this one hasn’t really been on the forefront. Although, working out is working toward this goal and my friend Heidi has suggested a great mountain to climb…what was the name of it again? And this goal is one that is weather dependant…go away snow!

3)Driving standard…

Yah…nothing here either…still trying to talk the husband into loaning me his truck…ok..that’s not true, he’s offered but we haven’t got around to it yet…maybe during calving season…when we have loads of time…bahahaha!

4) Still haven’t eaten at McDonalds…and not missing it one bit!

5) Opened my very own TFSA!!! For those of you who don’t know what that is…time to book an apointment with your bank and find out!!

6) Budget…well…I made one…and now am well aware that I have overspent in several areas…oh well, there is always next month!

7) Inviting people over for dinner…opps…mental note…invite people over for dinner.

The list gets longer…

I came across this on a fellow Copperwest blogger’s site (Hi Crystal!) and now I want one. I really should mind my own business and stop playing on my computer because I keep finding things like this. How is a girl to stick to her saving money resolution when there are all these wonderful ideas floating around out there!? I could wear this with almost anything…white tee and jeans…white collared shirt with jeans…blazer/tee and jeans….Are you noticing the jeans factor here? I tend to have a bit of a thing for them.

Anyways…a girl can dream…in color…about these belts…

I like this one too…

Or there is this one…

Oh dear.

Filthy Farmgirl Soap

Isn’t that the best name ever?!?!!?

I found this fantastic company back in my Mink & Manure days and have loved them ever since. The soaps are great…so great in fact that our hired hand commented on them. Trust me, this is a major deal…he’s 16 and a boy…can’t get a tougher crowd than that!

The “Live Nakedly” concept has to do with their pledge to be natural and eco-friendly. Their labels are on 100% recycled paper, they use no detergents, surfactants, sulfates, artificial scents, colorizers, or petroleum products of any kind, and their recipes are 100% natural…the ingredients are either grown by them or bought locally.

My favorite is Loopy Lavender and I’m planning on getting Lucky Ducky Lemon Drop next…they will also send out free samples for you to smell and try out.You can get the soaps from the website Filthy FarmgirlOR through my girl Jenn’s company Mink & Manure…check out her site and either give her a call or email her!

So lather up all you filthy farmgirls and enjoy!!

Claire Soup

What is Claire Soup you ask?!?

Only the bestest, easiest, fastest soup in the west! (Yes…I think I’m funny!) It is a soup that my husband named after my sister after he tried it for the first time.

It’s his thing…if it’s fantastic and he really, really, really wants you to make it again, it gets named after you! I have a chili….(from The Pioneer Woman cookbook…but don’t tell him that, he thinks I’m amazing!!!)

Anyways…my sister got this recipe from Rachael Ray…and it’s the best!

1 can of beef or chicken broth

1 cup water

1 package of tortellini

1 cup of grated cheese

Boil the broth/water, add as much tortellini as you want, when noodles are ready, put into bowls and cover in cheese. SO GOOD!!!!!!

I fall in love so easily.

Forever and a day now, I have loved Double D Ranchwear. I have yet to actually buy anything from them, pregnancies keep getting in the way. But I adore their clothes. My new favorite is…are you ready?!? A t-shirt.

I could see this under a cute jacket, on it’s own with jeans or under a hot pink cardigan….love….
